I won something! A little while ago, I entered a giveaway on the awesome food blog, Ideas in Food. Like magic, I was declared the winner only minutes later. My prize was an autographed copy of Les Petits Macarons by Kathryn Gordon and Anne McBride. The book is filled with so many inspiring ideas, page after page of beautiful photos, as well as a bit about macaron history (I enjoyed this part the most!).
Coincidentally, I've been feeling the manic sweats of macaron fever for about a month now. Every once in a while, it just comes over me in waves, and I hole up in the kitchen to hysterically bake until I faint and crumple up on the kitchen floor like the wicked witch, only instead of green smoke, I disappear into a poof of confectioners sugar.
Anyway, before I ride off on this winning streak (Yes, I did buy a lottery ticket over the weekend, just in case), I'll leave you with this recipe for grapefruit macarons from Fete. I haven't had a chance to bake from my new book yet, but this recipe sparked my recent bout of macaron fever, so perhaps it will inspire you as well. Err, basically what I'm trying to say is, if I'm going down in a poof of confectioners sugar, some of you people are coming down with me.
