On April 30th, I'll be running in the Kentucky Derby Festival's Mini Marathon (13.1 miles) to raise funds and awareness for Love146, an organization focused on ending child slavery and exploitation. I've been training since January, and the closer I get to the race, the more confident I feel. (Read my original post, here.) I'm going to crush it! It's funny, a few months ago, it was a challenge to get my lazy ass to run three miles, let alone 13.
Bloggers for Love was organized by Jen Lula of the awesome fashion/life blog, Jen Loves Kev. Jen will be running her second marathon for Love146 this year, and she's been posting updates every Monday about running, her training and the cause.
In case you haven't heard much about Love146, here is a great Vimeo clip explaining the history of the organization and the story behind their name:
"The trafficking and rape of children for profit is one of the darkest stories on the planet. This physical, mental and emotional trauma leaves children broken and scarred for life. Interventions for these children are critical to their survival. This is why Love146 exists."If you'd like to participate, you may make a donation and sponsor me on my run. Here is my fundraising page. I'd be so thrilled to gain your support and meet my goal. Every dollar is sincerely appreciated!
