Reading & Eating

Reading: When the weather is crumby, I forgo my routine lunchtime walk down Main Street and spend my lunch hour alone in my office, burning through a good book while sifting through the contents of my lunch bag. I love lunch time, and it's always more satisfying to break up the hectic (or monotonous) work day with a solid thirty minutes of literary escapism. My picks are typically fiction, but lately I've fallen for the crass, horrifyingly disgusting, adulterous and drug-riddled gossip in Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential. Now I know everything I've pretended to know when assuming my imaginary chef role, albeit tucked away in the comfort and safety of my very own five square feet of apartment kitchen.

Eating: water, creamy tomato soup and green chili arepa with cilantro and queso fresco (leftovers), one avocado with salt and pepper, two clementines.

You may remember a Reading & Eating post from way back when. I think I'd like to keep this photo series going, with a new book and lunchbox inventory every month. What do you think? Or most importantly, what are you reading and/or eating? I'm always curious.

Oh, and bookworms, please join me here.  It will be fun, I promise.

  1. I got to listen to a good part of the audiobook version of this with my brother and sister-in-law on the way to Cincinnati one day. It is delightfully filthy.

  2. looks yummy! i always eat and read at the same time.

  3. I read Kitchen Confidential back when I was still in the restaurant biz. Great read!

Immediately after I read Waiting - The True Confessions of a Waitress.

Speak your mind.
